As the year draws to a close, we reflect on the highs and lows that 2020 has delivered.
It’s fair to say, it’s been a challenge!
Most of us had not even heard of Zoom or TEAMS before March 2020, and remote working was a luxury taken by the few. Roll on lockdown and all our lives were flipped upside down.
Furiously adjusting factory layouts was top of the agenda to ensure critical work could continue, and like many, we had to battle through some really tough days. Our patience was tested as consumables sold out in a nano-second or moved to an indefinite delay, not to mention adjusting to the lack of human contact.
But we kept our staff safe and continued to supply our customers with parts. Parts used on ventilators to help save lives and on laboratory instrumentation that would ultimately provide a beacon of hope for accurate testing and vaccines.
Days were long and shrouded with a fear of the unknown, but WE survived, the business survived and our families are safe.
But it wasn't all doom and gloom:-
- We achieved process carbon neutrality across both factories and received two awards for Energy and Sustainability awards - one globally recognised.
- We invested in our very own Solar Farm, an energy-efficient compressor amongst many other changes (in the middle of a global pandemic), and spread the message far and wide about responsible manufacturing.
- And the final cherry on the cake, the purchase of a new VF11 HAAS CNC machining centre. This continued investment underlines our commitment to our future and shouts out, we are HERE TO STAY. To continue to serve our customers who need to enshroud their medical, science, and high-tech products with quality RIM mouldings.
We are local, and we are low risk.
So, it’s safe to say, our 30th year in business has been memorable!
A Few Thanks
We absolutely would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone! Our staff, for being the best team in the world, for adjusting to all the changes and accepting them with grace. Our suppliers who continued to rally around and keep our supplies coming in and of course our precious clients. Your support, understanding, and custom this year have been simply amazing.
We feel so lucky to have the joy of being involved in so many exciting projects, many of which are truly lifesaving and life-enhancing. We may only play a small part, but it’s times like this when you truly understand the value of teamwork and what brilliant design and manufacturing can bring to the world.
An Award-Winning Initiative – #MidasGreenInitiative
Throughout this challenging year, the Midas Green Initiative has been a shining light of optimism. A beacon of hope for what our future can look like if we all act now. As a small UK manufacturing company, we are passionate about the environment and have been proud to stand up and fight for a better future. Communication and knowledge sharing has been a major part of the initiative but we have not been shy to spend our hard earn cash on ‘greening’ our factories either! We are proof that by reducing waste, switching supplies, and innovating, you can reduce your impact on the planet whilst maintaining a healthy and profitable business.
We want to inspire YOU to do the same.
Partnerships
Long-term partnerships are what Midas is all about, and 2020 saw the team deliver over 20,000 high-quality RIM mouldings. Using our unique MRIM Tooling system we can produce 40 parts per week, helping us to forge strong relationships with some of the most innovative companies in the UK. Ensuring we have a consistently full order book all year round, even in the midst of a Global Pandemic.
We are proud to build long-lasting relationships with our clients and are looking forward to continuing our work with them in 2021.
New Year Developments
Just because it’s almost Christmas, it doesn’t mean the team at Midas is slowing down. We’ve already got lots of new and exciting projects lined up for Q1 2021 and will make plans for continued investment throughout 2021.
We’re constantly challenging our capabilities and are excited about collaborating with new partners. With projects ranging from EV chargers, medical devices, and robotics, to haptic and beauty therapy devices, we get to see a lot!
