It is with much sadness that we must announce the passing of our M.D's Father - Mr Norman Rance at the ripe old age of 82
Norman was a frequent and welcome visitor to the company over our 27 years and helped greatly with a number of practical tasks around the factory as well as 'captivating' us all with his awful jokes and stories of days gone by
He always had time for people and he always brought a smile to our faces. A practical man he loved to see what we were making and he always appreciated the finesse, craft and quality that went into what we do here, especially in the early years of Midas when everything was made by hand
Very much a product of the 'old school' he didn't always understand the complexities of modern manufacturing but he could completely appreciate the effort that we put in everyday
Norman worked in a number of industries during his life, always involving craft and practical skills but his favourite was working as a film editor for National Screen Services and he continued his love of film throughout his life by developing his own mobile cinema - 'The Bijou Film Theatre' which he toured around the county helping bring his special gift to hospitals and care homes for many years
We are sad that he has passed away but very happy to have known him, to have worked with him and above all to have laughed with him.
As a mark of our respect Midas will be closed on Thursday 17th March 2016
RIP Norman Rance 11/02/1934 - 29/2/2016
