Comedian Sean Lock to Host Plastics Industry Awards 2012

Known as the Oscars of the UK plastics industry, the Plastics Industry Awards is the industry’s most prestigious awards initiative, recognising, celebrating and encouraging achievement throughout the UK plastics industry. With 14 different categories covering all aspects of the industry, the awards offer an insight into current developments in materials usage, product design and innovative manufacturing as well as identifying excellence in training and environmental performance.

Sean Lock made his stage debut more than 20 years ago and regularly sells out the biggest venues in the UK on major tours. He has recorded two best-selling live stand-up DVDs, while regular TV appearances include Channel 4′s 8 Out Of 10 Cats and BBC2′s QI and BBC1′s Have I Got News For You. He has also hosted BBC1′s Live At The Apollo several times and recently appeared as a top-of-the-bill guest on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow.

Lock will present the awards in front of 800 plastics industry guests. He is certain to amuse and delight as well as sharing fresh insights on the plastics industry!

Shortlisted entrants for the Plastics Industry Awards Consumer Product Design of the Year are: Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Axion Polymers, Eyejusters, Magmatic, Nampak Plastics and Hymid Multi-Shot with ETI (Electronic Temperature Instruments). While finalists in the Industrial Product Design category are: AAV Plastics Design, Brightworks with Limbs & Things, F-Board, Hospital Metalcraft, Leafield Environmental and TRIG Creative.

Finalists shortlisted in the Best Environmental or Energy Efficiency Programme are: AB Systems, APPE, Green Roof Tile Company, Hi-Technology Group, IFS Chemicals, Nifco UK and PVC Recycling. For the Apprentice or Trainee of the Year Award, sponsored by the PMMDA in association with the PPMA, the finalists are Daniel Retallick of Polymeroptix UK, James Kelly of DuPont Teijin Films, Kane Wilson of Hi-Technology Group, Laura Bell of ColorMatrix , Paul Brown of Duo Plastics, Sarah Watson of Plastribution and Warran Hughes of UCP Zeller.

Finalists for the Young Designer of the Year Award sponsored by Agentdraw will be announced at a later date.
