What is Midas' MRIM ?

Midas has been producing RIM (Reaction Injection Moulded) parts for nearly 21 years and through that time we have become fortunate enough to earn the title of the UK’s leading low volume RIM supplier.

By creating and developing our own unique process we have been able to produce a robust tooling solution that can provide accurate parts, consistently, in sizes ranging from A4 right through to 2.5m and 30 kg’s in weight.

This really does enable Midas to service a huge range of industries, sectors and customers.

MRIM is a composite tooling system allowing for complex undercuts, cast in threads and inserts. Wall sections can vary in localised areas without the risk of sinking and distortion so designing for RIM can be as simple or elaborate as you like.

MRIM what is it and what can it do for you!

• A tooling process that offers low cost entry to market
• Accurate parts, consistently each and every time over a range of sizes A4 -2.5m
• Tool life guaranteed – once you have paid for your tooling that is it!
• Production volumes of 1-5000 off are possible. Unlike many suppliers we are happy to make 1 off or small batches right through to a maximum of 5000 off
• Low cost modifications for design changes and enhancements means that you can go straight into tooling and miss out expensive prototyping phases.

LINK YOURSELF TO A TOTAL QUALITY SUPPLIER – work with Midas to complete your supply chain and consider Midas an extension to your company.

High quality parts finished and painted to your specification with assembly and value added facilities available if required. Top quality customer service each and every time with technical support and design support so you don’t have to become a specialist in all tooling aspects.

Benefits of RIM over other moulding or casting solutions:-

RIM parts can be cast in thin and thick sections without the worry of sinking:-

• This will allow for greater freedom in your design
• Less compromise on where and how you attach additional components
• Fast design times for prototypes and compressed deliveries

Low volume solution - small batches sizes to suit your demands

• Whether that is 10 per year, 10 per month or 10 per week
• Ideally suited to your individual build schedule, sales fluctuations & build rates
• Flexibility is core to this process so you can manage your costs to suit your demands and market demands without risking heavy stocks, expensive tooling or short orders

Solid cast material – UL 94/VO flame retardant

• All parts are UL94/VO flame retardant material so can be sold worldwide (FDA approved)
• Solid cast means you can post modify and machine, make specials and glue parts together to make very complex single parts.
• Minimal distortion so ideal for multi-part assembles where fitment build-up is critical.

Finishes

• All mouldings are supplied painted allowing you to brand you product, match your corporate colours or create product families.
• Items can be re-sprayed and repaired cost effectively and a huge variety of looks, colours and paint style options are available to set your product apart from the competition.

Low Risk

• Tooling investment is very cost effective unlike metal tooling which helps to minimise risk when market forecasting and sales are tricky to guarantee
• Can be classed as ‘bridge tooling’ until projections take off – use RIM as a low investment strategy to get started and prove the design and as and when the volumes increase you have the option to move over to a metal tooling solution
