The March / April issue of 'Mould Technology' features the FROG transfer capsule Midas' high quality cast aluminium rotational mould tools were used to manufacture the polyethylene rotational mouldings that form the majority of the assembly The FROG transfer capsule is a well-known, high quality crew transport vehicle that is responsible for over a million personnel movements between vessel and platform every year The rotationally moulded buoyancy units are extremely visible and therefore the aesthetics of the unit are very important in establishing the high quality impression the customer required. Midas manufactured the cast aluminium rotational mould tools at our facilities in Bedford, utilising all of our CAD design, patternmaking, CNC machining and metal engineering capabilities to ensure the tooling was produced to a very high standard. Precise split lines and shut off ‘s ensured trimming was kept to a minimum, thus ensuring a quality finish on the mouldings. Tight collaboration with the customer and the moulder ensured everyone was kept happy and the project was completed within the promised deadlines and within the customers tight budget These large (2m x 1m x 1m) heavy tools were entirely manufactured within the UK and demonstrate perfectly the global competitiveness and quality service that Midas can offer the rotational moulding industry.
