A carbon footprint is "the total set of greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions caused by an organization, event or product”. For simplicity of reporting, it is often expressed in terms of the amount of carbon dioxide, or its equivalent of other GHGs, emitted. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_footprint
Working in conjunction with local suppliers and the Carbon Trust we have replaced the antiquated heating system that warms our 20,000sqft moulding plant and installed a rapid rise/fall eco door to ensure that heat losses are minimized when goods are received and dispatched. In addition all six of our paint booths have now had exhaust baffles installed which operate automatically ensuring that cold air cannot be drawn back down the chimneys, and into the factory, when they are not in operation.
Cleanair Ltd (Daventry), who installed 1 Powermatic NV75 (75kW) - (Input of 81.3kW) - 92% energy efficient and 1 Powermatic VPC52 (52kW) - (Input of 56.5kW) - 92% energy efficient, both units supplied c/w an Intelligent Management Control system
and
Enerco ltd (Liddlington) who installed a Delta Speed ‘7000DynamicRoll’ Rapid Eco Door to work in conjunction with our existing roller shutter door, worked with us to present a case to the Carbon Trust who ultimately funded over 60% of the total project cost (>£20k)
We are anticipating payback within 6 months on our door investment and within 24 months (12 actual heating months) on our heating system.
The significant reduction in gas consumption is clearly beneficial to both our running costs and our ongoing drive to reduce our carbon emissions.
In addition we are hoping that the much enhanced working environment that these investments will facilitate will improve working conditions for our team of loyal and hardworking staff.
We would be happy to discuss these projects with any of our suppliers and customers. Should you wish to make similar reductions to YOUR carbon footprint and feel that our experience may be helpful please don’t hesitate to contact us.
